Think Projects as a ClickUp alternative

One consistent daily workflow, with less to configure.

Who this suits

Teams who took ClickUp for its breadth and now find everyone uses it a little differently, with one person acting as administrator. Usually five to twenty people. If your team lives in ClickUp Docs, Whiteboards and Sprints, ClickUp is doing its job for you and is likely the better fit.

What your week would look like

  • One way to do each thing. A project has messages, task lists, a board, a calendar, a timeline, files, a library and pages, laid out the same way for everyone. A new starter can learn it from the guide.
  • A forecast finish date from estimates, dependencies, who is doing what and when people are away, which moves when something changes.
  • Project conversations as threads, with reply by email, so clients can reply to project notifications from their inbox.
  • A weekly status update drafted for a person to send.

What you would keep: task lists with subtasks five deep, tags, priorities, estimates, dependencies, custom fields and repeating tasks; a Kanban board, a calendar and a timeline with milestones; time tracking with a timer and billable flag; comments with @mentions and reactions; templates; guests; Slack or Teams notifications; files on everything; a command palette with keyboard shortcuts.

Bringing your work with you

Export a List or Folder as CSV (⋯ → Export → CSV) and drop it into the import wizard, which recognises the format: Lists become task lists, "complete" and "closed" count as done, and assignees, tags, dates, priorities, time estimates, subtasks and checklist items come across. Comments, attachments, time logged, Docs and automations stay behind. Details on the switching page.

Where ClickUp is the better choice

Docs, Whiteboards, Chat, Goals, Sprints, Mind Maps and dashboards; the automation builder; ClickUp Brain; the app marketplace; native phone apps.
